It’s going to be a double delight for Tamil film industry within a gap of 10 days. An official press release from the State government said on Tuesday that the presentation of prestigious Kalaimamani Awards and Tamil Nadu Film Awards would be held in Chennai on November 28 and December 8, respectively.
Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who is a veteran script writer, would take part in both the functions and honour winners. Interestingly, the Chief Minister himself would get an award for his dialogues in the film ‘Uliyin Osai’. The release said the ceremony for Kalaimamani awards for the year 2007 would be held at 'Kalaivanar Arangam' here on November 28. The State government has already announced 71 winners in this category.
Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala and Karunanidhi would take part in the presentation ceremony, the release said, adding three senior artistes, who had won the award would be given a purse of Rs 15,000 each.
The Tamil Nadu film awards distribution ceremony for 2007 and 2008 would be held at the University Centenary Auditorium on December 8 where the Chief Minister would present the awards to the winners, the release said.The function is being organised by the State Information Department. Awards would be presented to students of Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu, the release added. Superstar Rajinikanth has been adjudged the best actor of 2007 (‘Sivaji’), while Kamal Hassan the best actor of 2008 (‘Dasavatharam’).
