The whole industry and fans are eager to know any movement and growth about this untitled flick. The grapevine is abuzz that the skeleton of the script is on the quest for Lord Buddha’s tooth.
According to Sri Lankan folklore, when Lord Buddha died, his body was cremated in a sandalwood pyre at Kusinara in India and his left canine tooth was retrieved from the funeral pyre by Arahat Khema (disciple of Buddha). Khema then gave it to King Brahmadatte for worship.
It became a royal possession in the king’s empire and was kept in the city of Dantapuri (present day Puri in Orissa). There is a faith that the land in which the tooth is kept would flourish and the person who houses it had a divine right to rule that land. Because of this there was a great competition among the kings and wars developed taking countless innocent lives.
So, this is the mythology of Lord Buddha’s tooth. And what we can understand is that our Ulaganayagan may head to Sri Lanka, and by all chances Sri Lanka is the best place to be used as the film’s backdrop.
Hmmm... It was Hinduism in ‘Dasavatharam’ and now it’s Buddhism... Cool!
