Tamil cinema’s favourite villain Prakash Raj has been busy collecting bouquets after bouquets for receiving a National Award for Priyadarshan’s Kanchivaram. Raj shared his experiences of working with Priyadarshan in the film and his plans for the future.“I think my highest payment in my career, which I have received, is for Kanchivaram and that is the National Award,” said Raj.
From theatre shows, to playing supporting roles Prakash Raj sure has come a long way and somewhere in between he has picked up three National Awards.“Over the years I’ve spoken to him and I know his passion, vision foe cinema and what sort of films he’s capable of making also,” he added.Prakash Raj who plays a poor silk weaver in Kanchivaram says he was floored by the script the moment he heard it.
“I heard the story, I didn’t say a word and I said thank you, good story and I walked out. And he probably thought for the next 15 minutes that I was like any other actor who would listened to a good script and left. But I was speechless because it had moved me immensely. I had to come out drive down to a café have a coffee and then call him and say ‘how did you manage to live this story for 12 years?,” he said.Raj is excited about the release of Wanted he said, “Now I’m crossing my fingers and as on September 18 is the release of a Hindi film, my first Hindi major film, which is the remake of Pokkiri in South-both the languages, it’s good and Salman has acted in it. He is a very sweet guy and a wonderful guy and Boney has done it with lot of passion and commitment, Prabhu Deva has directed it and it’s shaped up very well.”
