Ninaithale Inikkum Tamil movie review!

When official announcements were made about remake of Lal Jose’s ‘Classmates’, it was a doubtful affair whether a debutant can prove him off a better remake. Incisively, it was all due to worst remakes that were continually witnessed by us, especially ‘remake’ brothers (you know whom we’re referring), who gradually never strained to remake a film. Because, they never missed, even a wall’s paint color simple bluff that they’re doing justice to the original version. So, how about Kumaravelan remaking a Malayalam blockbuster that had spellbinding storyline and brilliant screenplay penned by Lal Jose

Our kind request! Just raise your hands for grand applause. Debutant Kumaravelan proves of his rational ability in remaking the film with accordance to the tastes of Tamil audiences. Looks like, he had clearly witnessed flop shows of Malayalam remake in Tamil since those filmmakers failed to learn audiences’ psychology. It’s much revealing right from the first scene. In Malayalam version, Lal Jose had patently introduced the genres ‘suspense-mystery’ interwoven with happy college days. Of course, Malayalam audiences are so keen looking out for a perfect storyline right on the beginning note. But there’s lot of difference in ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’ where the complete first half begins with flashback (as in original version), but the suspense factor commences during ‘intermission’.

The film opens with Shiva (Prithviraj) on his flight from Mumbai to Chennai for a reunion with his classmates of year 2000 batch. It is a gathering in remembrance of their classmate Sakthi (Sakthi) who passed away during their final year. Of course, his other classmates Meera (Priyamani), daughter of MLA, Karthik (Jeeva), Vasu (Karthik) and others as well are present. The story takes us back to their nostalgic college days and ends up to present stage where Sakthi’s father (Bhagyaraj) is launching a music library as a matter of fulfilling his son’s dreams. Sooner, they all have dinner together and things take a complete turn with twist in tale when Shiva is found choked by a guitar string.Rest of the story is all about turns of events where truth behind the incident has to be unraveled. Now, the biggest question is – was it a suicide attempt or a homicide

Prithviraj does a great job as in the original version. It’s good to see him differentiating himself from the original version and this remake. Priyamani comes up with a laudable job while Sakthi suits the space of innocent student. Karthik Kumar as a filthy rich student makes an interesting approach. Vishnupriyan and Jeeva have done justice to their roles. Bhagyaraj has got a meaty role to play after long sabbatical gap.Kumaravelan could’ve avoided some cliched sequences where ‘watching movie with eunuchs’ has been lifted from yesteryear movie ‘Eeramaana Rojave’Musical score by Vijay Antony is top-notching as all the songs are enjoyable. He could’ve focused more on background score as well. Cinematography by Balasubramaniam is yet another factor to appreciate. Dialogues are catchy and appealing.

On whole, ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’ is a movie worth watching for a convincing deliverance by debutant Kumaravelan.
