Sari or Saree is wardrobe of Indian sub-continent. Saree is worn by the women from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka.
It is 5 to 9 meters long, one meter wide rectangular clothing draped around the body. The dress, saree goes with a short tight blouse, and in-skirt. Saree skirt is called IN SKIRT or petticoat or pavadia. A blouse is choli. Saree is tucked in skirt and draped around the body and one end is draped over the tight blouse.
The blouse must match the color and texture of the saree. Sometimes, even the color petticoat worn must be in tune with color of the saree.
For special occasion like wedding, festivals etc. the saree are available in designer collection with all the embroidery and mirror works and lot of embellishment. The matching blouses too contain similar design. Designer blouses tailored to suit the occasion and personality.
Women in saree looks very mature and gorgeous. They look sexy, but very graceful and lovely. The front portion of the body is exposed elegantly exposing the bare navel and belly button. Navel is considered to be source of life and creativity. Hence the women folks leave the midriff bare.
In ancient times, blouses or cholis were non existence. There are references in ancient Tamil poetry Shilappadikaram where it is mentioned that the women of that time wore saree only with top torso naked exposing breasts and navel.
