'Gilli' lacks intensity!13

'Gilli', a remake of Selvaraghavan's '7G Rainbow Colony', fails in recapturing the intensity of the original.

'Gilli' lacks intensity!

Movie Review

The original film in Tamil, which was released a couple of years ago, was not only a huge hit but was critically acclaimed also. Though Raghav Loki tries his level best to repeat the success story in Kannada, he has failed in narration.

'Gilli' lacks intensity!

The film narrates the intense love story between Gilli (Gururaj) and a girl (Rakul Preet Singh) in his neighbourhood. The film is boring and tiresome at places. Though the director has shortened the film in the Kannada version, he could have trimmed some more scenes which are boring and wayward. Particularly the comic scenes of Yathiraj and Sadhu Kokila. Looks like those scenes were added to show the acting skills and comic prowess of Yathiraj and nothing else.

'Gilli' lacks intensity!

Gururaj, actor Jaggesh's son makes a debut in this film. Though Guru looks impressive, he has a long way to go as an actor. Rakul Preet Singh is wooden from frame one. Veteran artistes such as Sreenivasamurthy are excellent.

Technically the film has nothing much to boast off. Yuvan Shankar Raja's entire musical score, including the background music, has been lifted from the original. Krishna of 'Mungaru Male' fails to impress with his camera work.
'Gilli' is just an average fare which is good in parts!
