Saree or sari is a garment worn by women from Indian subcontinent. It is one meter wide and five to nine meters long in length. It is draped over the body various styles. The most common style is for the saree to be wrapped around the wait and other loose end draped over the shoulder baring the stomach, midriff and navel. Saree is tied over a petticoat (also called pavada or pavadai or shaya). A blouse (choli or ravika) form the upper garment for the saree. The blouse or choli to match the saree in color and texture. Also similar color petticoat (in-skirt) is used to drape the saree.

For special occasion or wedding specially sarees are available with lot of embellishment with embroidery and mirror works.

Wearing Saree add graze to personality – as well it adds oomph! Women wear saree elegantly as well sexily. Navel is being considered to be the source of life and creativity, hence the midriff is to be left bare by the saree. Choli or sari blouse and the petticoat (in skirt) was unknown before the British arrived. In South India, till 20th century, women from many communities wore only sari and exposed the bosom and navel belly button. Poetic reference in Tamil poem Shilappadikaram mention the same. In Kerala there are references of women being bare breasted. Even today in some rural areas do not wear cholis.
