Ban on Superstars................!....
Fifteen Malayalam film producers, who have grouped together for reducing the cost of filmmaking and promoting new directors, have decided not to cast any superstars in their movies.

resh Kumar Monday said the United Producers Forum was formed this month since no producer is in a position to alone absorb the losses when a film flops.“All but three of the 38 films released this year till August have flopped and the total loss to the producers is in excess of Rs.1 billion. We just cannot go like this so we decided to join hands,” Suresh Kumar, who has produced more than 30 films in a career spanning two decades, told IANS.
“To start with, we will do five films and the cost of each film will be around Rs.10 million. We will have new directors but will not do any films with superstars,” he added.
Filmmakers say the huge remuneration charged by superstars is the main reason why the cost of a film shoots up.
However, the three films that made some money for the producers this year all had superstars. The movies were “Annan Thampi” starring Mammootty, “Madambhi” starring Mohanlal and “Veruthae Oru Bhariya” starring Jayaram.
“Close to 70 percent of the total film cost goes by way of remuneration to actors and technicians,” said B. Unnikrishnan, who wrote the script of “Madambhi”.
Veteran scriptwriter S.N. Swamy said several factors are responsible for the success of a film and a film with no superstars will have to bank heavily on marketing.
Sources said big stars like Mammootty and Mohanlal charge around Rs.6 million.
“My blockbuster film ‘Poochaku oru Mukuthi’ directed by Priyadarshan in the early 80s cost less than Rs.800,000 to make. Now if I do such a film it will cost Rs.30 million while the market for Malayalam films hasn’t grown,” said Suresh Kumar.
Mohanlal And Kamal Hassan In Film Thalaivan Irukkiraan!
Mohanlal had last week met Kamal Hassan in Chennai and discussed the film which will be written and directed by the master himself. What impressed Mohanlal was Kamal's narration and he also gave him a bounded script of the film.
Sources close to Mohanlal confirmed that the star has in principle agreed to do the film. Another meeting will take place in Chennai next week, when others in the star cast and further technical details are wrapped up.
Kamal Hassan will be the protagonist in this action adventure which will also feature Rishi Kapoor from Hindi, Venkatesh from Telugu and two Bollywood babes. The film will be shot in US and Switzerland.
For Mohanlal fans it will be a treat as two of the finest actors in contemporary Indian cinema will be coming together for the first time. It sure is going to rock.
Shobhana making a come back!
Mohanlal's latest sensational movie Saagar Alias Jackie - Reloaded is progressing with it's shooting. Bhavana is playing the female lead in this film. Bhoomika Chawla as Mohanlal's heroine!
Much popular South Indian actress Bhoomika Chawla is going to make her debut into Malayalam film industry through the film Bharamaram. This is director Blessy's new film, which is said to be a thriller by nature. Superstar Mohanlal is the main lead in this new film. Mohanlal will play the role of a lorry driver in the high ranges. The film will feature vengence as it's main point.Even though this is Bhoomika's first film in Malayalam, she is a well known celebrity in Kerala with her Tamil as well as Telugu films running successfully in most of the theatres. The shooting for the film has already started at Kochy. One of the highlights of the movie is that Mohanlal will sing a song in this new movie, set by the team of Anil Panachooran and Mohan Sithara.

Superstar Mohanalal and Priyamani baged the last year's best actor and actress in the Idea -Mathrubhumi-Amritha awards announced lastday. While 'Thirakkatha' was selected as the best film of the year, its director Renjith bagged the awards for the best director of the year.Mammootty got the 'excellence in acing 'award while Sreenivasan will receive the 'Abhinaya Prathiabha' Puraskaram.
Mohanlal was selected for the awards for his performances in the movies Pakalnakshatrangal, Aakashagopuram and Kurukshetra while Priyamani bagged the awards for her meticulous display in ‘Thiraktha’. Meera Nandan and Vineeth Sreenivasan won the award for best debut for their debut films 'Mulla' and 'Cycle' respectively. Jayasuriya and Roma were selected as the best character actors for their performance in 'Minnaminnikkoottam'.

Review : Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded!
Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded ,which is the 21st century version of eighties superhit movie Irupatham Nootandu release last week.The film released in 102 theatres and run more than 500 shows,which is an all time record.Also it breaks the initial collection record of 20-20. An underworld don who operates internationally, Sagar Alias Jacky had to deal with the likes of Naina (Suman) and Goa based Rozario brothers who want to do away with Sagar.But each time Sagar with his fearlessness and brilliance in plotting, outplays them. The film starts off very interestingly when Indhu(Shobhana), the daughter of the state chief minister (Nedumudi Venu) calls Sagar to save her husband Manu (Manoj K Jayan) from the clutches of Rozario brothers.
Sagar gets into action and releases him with little fisticuffs. This mission lands him into further troubles, which lead to a chain of gang war, deceit and shooting .To engage the more time of the movie , arrives the heroine Aarathy Menon (Bhavana), a savvy channel reporter, who starts to report on Sagar but predictably falls for his gamut of presentations as a guardian angel. Undoubtedly, the movie is the most slick and stylishly made one which seldom tries to cling on to a plot. Often we have pointless and constant changes of direction to the story, to set the stage for potentially entertaining or nerve-wracking set pieces that rarely show up. And with plenty of men with differing shades of villainy, this dark thriller fails to create characters that have enough roots for any morals.
Mohanlal who is in almost every frame after his introduction, manages to salvage the film by a considerable extent, even though his character is too unidimensional, offering no complex scenes for the versatile actor to cherish.
With veteran S N Swamy's screenplay and dialogues that fails to live up to the best of the visuals, the movie often looks like an overcooked meal '' - which give the star's fans space for wolf-whistles for a punch line or a meticulously conceived entry shots at regular intervals. And in fact, there is little beyond that.
Most others in the cast have delivered brilliant performances. The name of Sampath who appears as Rozario definitely needs a special mention. Amal Neerad has also brought in the best work from his technicians including the editor Vivek Harsha and art and costume departments. There is hardly any frame in the film that is not color corrected and toned.Amal as a cinematographer has also played his part to make the movie better, with his brilliant visual aesthetics. He seems to have a special penchant for wide and low angles and hardly lit interiors, and loud and contrasting BG scores (that is evident from his debut film Big B).
Gopi Sundar has worked hard on the rerecording and his songs too suit the films moods, but the Lal - Bhavana song comes up as a speed breaker.Even though the movie designed in the assembly line of stylized gangster movies of Bollywood, lacks a consistent flow in narratives and is a little slimmer in content, Amal Neerad definitely needs to be appreciated for trying some thing of this sort of visual splendour for the Kerala Audiences. Considering the quality of movies churned out in Mollywood these days,''Sagar Alias Jacky, Reloaded '', must be definitely promoted for the quality of making, rather than for its thematic content.
Conclusion is that SAJ Reloaded is that it is the most malayalam stylish film ever made.But it have no story.It will be a sure hit movie.Already the film gets 1.33 distributor share in four days.

Kamal Hassan's! UNNAI POLORUVAN started
Kamal Hassan's Unnaipoloruvan started its shooting. Versatile actor Kamal Hassan has started shooting for his new bilingual film which is a remake of the critically acclaimed Hindi film “A Wednesday”.
Kamal Hassan’s production banner Raj Kamal has joined hands with Mumbai’s UTV Studios for this film.
Actor Chakri who had earlier worked in Kamal Hassan starrer “Sagara Sangamam” is making his debut as a director with this film.
Kamal Hassan’s daughter Shruthi Hassan will be composing the music of the film. Shruthi Hassan is a well known singer and actress, and she will be making her debut as a music director with this film.
It has been almost an year since Kamal Hassan has faced the camera after completing the shooting of the block buster “Dasavathaaram” which raked in more than Rs.250 crore worldwide.
Kamal Hassan has started shooting of his new bilingual film April 7 at Ramoji Film City near Hyderabad. The film is a remake of Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher starrer “A Wednesday” which became a surprise hit besides being critically appreciated.
The Telugu version of the film titled “Ee Nadu” will have Telugu film industry’s leading star Venkatesh playing the role of Anupam Kher. Malayalam superstar Mohan Lal will be essaying the same role in the Tamil film titled as “Unnaipol Oruvan”.
Kamal Hassan will be playing the role played by Naseeruddin Shah in both the versions of the film.
