Review : IG!

Suresh Gopi's latest movie IG reached Theatres last week.The movie Opened in around 50 theatres all across kerala. Suresh Gopi is back with his favourite police role in the movie IG. The movie was Scripted and directed by B Unnikrishnan, the movie is an action thriller.

The film story is around the terrorist activities going on in kerala.In this film Suresh Gopi is doing the role of IG, Inspector General, who is on to give a final blow to the terrorism activities in the state.Suresh Gopi is Durga Prasad, the firebrand inspector general, now in a punishment posting as IG traffic in the state capital. A big blast in the city market and a murder of a home secretary Paul Joseph (Sreeraman) inside the secretariat premises brings in the protagonist back as the head of Anti Terrorist Squad, which enjoy unlimited power, with no interference from the top, to clear off the terrorist links and solve the murder mystery.

Suresh Gopi, though a little jaded is engaging enough to make you sit, till the final reels. He appears reasonably fit and charismatic, though in the same role, the umptenth time. Govind Padmasuriya who plays Durga's brother and Anaida Nair shows glimpses of star elements in them. Lakshmi, Vijayaraghavan and Jagathy Sreekumar are wasted in insignificant roles. .Rajan P Dev also managed to credibly present the man on hot seat, than going for another mimicry.

IG ends up as another cop movie without any thrills or real points to make about its premises. The main attraction of the movie is the climax which is a super suspense.Without any hard core emotions about patriotism and anti terrorism, ‘IG’ is destined to end up as a downer or just another inclusion into the star's long list of cop movies.Surely the film IG will be an aveage hit.

Pasupathy back in a Malayalam movie!

Pasupathy, one of the talented actors in Tamil film industry has made her debut in Malayalam through the Mammootty starrer BigB. After his impressive debut in Big B, Tamil actor Pasupathy is back to Malayalam to play another meaty role.

This talented actor will be seen in the new film to be directed by M A Nishaad. This new Malayalam film, which is titled as Vairam will feature Pasupathy as a bank employee Shivarajan, who is in turmoil after his only girl child falls to a trap.

This new film is director Nishaad's very next film after the Suresh Gopi starrer Ayudham. This new film, Vairam is based on a true story that was in the headlines for long. This new film will also feature Suresh Gopi, Jayasuriya, Mukesh, Kalabhavan Mani and Meera Vasudevan.

Suresh Gopi to pair with Shobhana!

A new Malayalam film is now all set start it's shooting by the end of this week. The major highlight of this new film will be that after a couple of years Suresh Gopi will again team up with senior actress Shobhana. They were last seen together in the movie, Makalkku.

This new film, which is to be directed by Ashok R Nath will feature these two veteran actors in the lead. This new film is titled as Ekadashy. The script of the movie, based on a village story was handled by Anil Mukhathala.

Others in the cast line are Navya Nair, Manoj K Jayan, Vineeth and Sukumari. This new movie will be produced by Sandeep in the banner of Nandhikkal Cinemas.

Pathram 2 - Sequel Of Superhit Film Pathram!

Pathram was one of the megahits of late ninties. Director of movie pathram Renji Panikkar is going to take the sequel of that megahit malayalam movie. Suresh Gopi was in the leading role in the movie Pathram, also Manju Warrier, N F Varghese and Biju Menon done the main roles in that movie.The movie Pathram was told in the backdrop of the newspaper industry and had some effective punchlines.

Mammootty will star in B.Unnikrishnan's next,'Pramaani'. Mammootty will be essaying the role of Raghava Panikkar, a corrupt panchayath president.

Megastar MAMMOOTTY 's new project is "Pramani" with B.Unnikrishnan,the director of the superhit movie 'Madambi',staring Mohanlal.Although the names of the 2 films seems to be similar,its a different topic from the prevoius one.Just as in Unnikrishnan's previous superhit, 'Madambi', starring Mohanlal in the lead, the protagonist of the film will have shades of grey.

The shooting for the film is planned to begin by this year-end and is expected to reach theatres by March next.other stars casting in the film are the extremely talented comedian Jagathi sreekumar, Nedumudi Venu, Suraaj Venjaramoodu and Salim Kumar.

Unnikrishnan, a writer-turned-director, made it to the big league of directors with 'Madambi'. Moderate hits - 'Smart City' and 'IG' are also his films with hero Suresh gopi.This director has a variety style and this approach to films has become accepted by the fans in kerala.

Suresh Gopi again join hands with Shaji kailas in! ‘Kerala Café’

Once again the veteran director Shaji Kailas and Super star Suresh Gopi joining hands together for a new malayalam movie Kerala Cafe. The malayalam movie Kerala Cafe is based on a novel concept in filmmaking in Malayalam movies. The movie is a combination of package of ten short movies which are being directed by 10 film makers.

Shyamaprasad, Shaji Kailas, Lal Jose, B Unnikrishnan, Revathy, Padmakumar, Uday Ananthan, Anjali Menon and debutante Shankar Ramakrishnan are the most talented Directors who are behind this joint venture Kerala Cafe. The movie Kerala Cafe is produced and co-ordinated by actor-director Renjith.

Shaji Kailash has already started shooting for his segment of short moviewhich is titled as ‘Lalitham, Hiranmayam. The short film feature Suresh Gopi in the central cast and Jyothirmayi and Dhanya Mary Varghese in key roles. Navya denies marriage rumours00

Navya Nair has denied reports appearing in a section of the press that she is tying the knot with a Nair boy working in a multinational who hails from Changanasserry.

When contacted Navya clarified and said: “It’s a lot of kite flying. Yes it’s true my parents are looking for a groom for me and since we will only marry within our community it will be a Nair boy not necessary from Changanassery, it could be Ambalapuzha also as one of the proposals came from there.”

Navya' made it clear that these are just rumours, and she has to complete her film assignments before even planning her marriage.

She is at the moment shooting with Suresh Gopi and Ambika for Sadgamaya in Thiruvananthapuram.

Director Harikumar’s untitled film will have Suresh Gopi and Navya Nair playing the lead roles. Jagathy Sreekumar and Swetha Menon will also be playing important roles. This is the third time Suresh and Navya are teaming up for a film, after Kavyam and Violet.

Popular writer Shatrughnan will script the movie based on a story by the director. The others in the production sections will include M Jaychandran and Rafeeq Ahamed who will be in charge of the music and Krishnanunni who will mange the sound department. To be produced in the banner of Mandhaar creations, the movie will start its shoot by the 10th of this October.

Meanwhile, Suresh Gopi's latest in theatres ‘Vairam’ has already bought in good reviews and is expected to come up as a welcome hit of the season.

Malayalam movie Kancheepurathe Kalyanam !review

The new film 'Kancheepurathe Kalyanam’, by debutant director duo Fazil-Jayakrishnan, is a film that leads you to expect a fun-filled family entertainer. But sadly enough, the film doesn’t entertain and even seems stale at places. It appears to be a hotchpotch of many films and represents a genre that was OK for the 1990’s. The main problem with the flick is that it lacks originality.

There are somany characters in this film. Kalarikkal Achuthankutty (Suresh Gopi) and Pattarumatathil Najeeb (Mukesh) had not only been best of friends, they even ran an event management company jointly until they parted ways. The reason for the parting of ways was that Najeeb married Achuthankutty’s sister Athira (Surabhi) and that too without the consent of the family members. From then on Achuthankutty started seeing Najeeb as an enemy. And when Najeeb started his own event management company, named New Friends Event Management Company (Achuthankutty’s company was named Friends Event Management Co.), they became business rivals too. Achuthankutty’s manager P.M. Premachandran (Harisri Ashokan) and Najeeb’s manager C.M. Premachandran (Jagadeesh) too clash with each other just like their masters.
Achuthankutty remains unmarried supposedly because after his sister’s elopement with someone from a different religion, he would not get a good alliance. Najeeb decides that since he is responsible for his friend’s predicament, he has the moral responsibility to see to it that he gets a suitable bride. Najeeb tries his best to smoothen things out, but Achuthankutty is adamant.
It is at this juncture that both Achuthankutty and Najeeb get to go to Kancheepuram in connection with the marriage of one Meenakshi (Muktha), the daughter of Devanayagi (Zeenath), who owns Meenakshi Silks. Meenakshi is to be married to the son of her maternal uncle, Sreeramalingam Muthaliar (Jagathy Sreekumar). Muthaliar in fact has a selfish motive behind this move; he wants to own the Meenakshi Silks, which would pass on to his son after the marriage. Achuthankutty and Najeeb are to divide the management of the engagement ceremony and the wedding ceremony too between themselves. It’s in this connection that Achuthankutty, Najeeb, Athira, P.M. Premachandran and C.M. Premachandran arrive at Kancheepuram. The story takes off from here.
Suresh Gopi doesn’t impress us as Achuthankutty. The character doesn’t suit him or his image. He has his limitations as an actor. It’s high time he chose roles that suit his acting capabilities. Mukesh is good as Najeeb. Harisri Ashokan and Jagadeesh impress us in their usual styles and Jagathy Sreekumar too does the same, though we have seen it all before, in many films. Muktha is OK as Meenakshi, good at times, but rather unimpressive in some scenes. There’s nothing much to be said about Surabhi, who plays Athira. Innocent is good as Balakrishnan Nair alias Balaji, who’s Achuthankutty’s uncle and a still photographer by profession. Politician-turned-actor Rajmohan Unnithan does a different role this time as the village chief. The rest of the cast suit their respective roles.
He still writes his scripts as if he is catering to the audience of the 1980’s or early 1990’s) and the directors should have taken care to treat the subject better and in accordance with the today’s trends. Many directors have clicked at the box office, serving old wine again and again, but packaging it differently each time. Let’s hope Fazil and Jayakrishnan take a cue from this.

Suresh Gopi as Inspector General of Police!

After Smart City, it's now I.G from the team of Suresh Gopi and B Unnikrishnan. This film will be director B Unnikrishnan's third venture after Smart City with Suresh Gopi and Maadambi with Mohanlal. This new film titled as I.G will feature Suresh Gopi as Inspector General of Police.

Other's in the cast are Aashish Vidyarthy, Lakshmi, Vijayaraghavan, Jyothirmayi, Anetha, Rajan P Dev, Govind Padmasuriya, Anil and Devan. Music department of the movie will be handled by M Jayachandran - Gireesh Puthencherry team. Cinematography of the movie will be handled by Shyam Dutt.

The movie which is planning to start its shoot by the 29th of this month is expected to get completed in and around Thiruvananthapuram in a single schedule. This new film will be produced by Mahi in the banner of Super films.
