The year was 2000. And Karthi, the younger son of Sivakumar, was leaving for the United States to pursue higher studies. When he was about to start from the house, his dotting dad gifted him a ‘precious thing’- a book on MGR.

This was revealed by Sivakumar himself at a recent music concert in Chennai, which was organised by a Tamil monthly and a popular music troupe to commemorate the 93rd birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister. “I gifted Karthi a book on MGR because the Makkal Thilakam was an example to all. Everyone should follow the way the matinee idol led his life in a simple way despite all the power, fame and wealth he had,” Sivakumar said.

Heaping more laurels on MGR, Sivakumar said, “I had acted with him in two films- ‘Kavalkaran’ and ‘Idhayaveenai’. I learnt a lot from him during the shooting of those movies. I wanted Karthi too to follow the footsteps of the Puratchi Thailaivar.”

Going down the memory lane, the actor said, “MGR helped the needy a lot even at the time when he was a struggling actor. He never bothered about being hungry. All that he wanted was others should eat well.

Thamanna replaced Anushka in Karthi film 2010

Actress Anushka sizzled with her uttermost skin show in Telugu version of ‘Vikramakudu’ and she was supposed to star opposite Karthi in Tamil remake as well. On the spur of moment, she was replaced by Thamannah as Karthi had recommended her intensely.
As known earlier, the film is produced by Karthi’s uncle K.E. Gnyanavel Rajan under the banner name of Studio Green Films. It seems that Karthi had developed a great relationship with Thamannah in during the shooting of ‘Paiyaa’.

Lingusamy’s expect 100% gain 200% on Paiyaa020100

The director of  Paiyaa, Lingusamy is basking in glory over the astounding success of the film. The proud director says that he expected 100 percent success but he was baffled by the 200 percent success!
Lingusamy says that he wanted to make a film that will bring the audiences that liked Run and Anandam, though both these films belonged to different genres. And the outcome is Paiyaa for all to see.
He also adds that it is interesting to note that Paiyaa’s collection will surpass that of Sivaji, Dasavatharam and Vettaikaran in different capacities.
According to the director, the audiences were eager to see a decent and stylish film in theatres rather than dirt and filth. This is the reason Paiyaa was made, he adds.

Dhayanidhi Alagiri, Karthi, Lingusamy,

If you are planning to have a blast this weekend, you can reserve ‘Paiyaa’ tickets from this morning, for plans for the Lingusamy’s film will be open at cinema halls all over Tamil Nadu from today.

A whopping number of 18 theatres will release the Karthi-Tamannah starrer this Friday in Chennai alone. Remember we are talking about cinema halls in mainland and not about those in the suburbs.

Interestingly, Mayajal will screen 40 shows a day, a first-of-its kind patronage for a film starring an up and coming actor like Karthi in the lead. All other theatres will have extra shows in the releasing weekend, and at least four shows a day after that.

“This shows the expectations the movie has created. It’s all because of two persons- Lingusamy the director and Dhayanidhi Alagiri, who had acquired the release rights of the movie,” says a source in the distribution business.

‘Paruthiveeran’ Karthi to pair up with Anushka

Looks like ‘big brother’ Surya is all concerned about his bro’s successful career. It’s worth mentioning that earlier Thamannah was commended to be paired up with Karthi in Lingusamy’s ‘Paiyya’. Similarly, he has referred the name of ‘Anushka’ for Karthi’s upcoming project ready to take off shortly.

Nothing has been revealed about the project except the confirmation of Anushka. The director’s name and other crew list will be announced very shortly.

As off now, the actor has completed shooting for ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ ready to hit screens in December. As well, his schedule of ‘Paiyya’ is ready to windup shortly and is busy now shooting for ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’. Surya seems to have been impressed with Anushka’s performance in ‘Singam’ and has likely got her name for his brother.

Aayirathil Oruvan Release date Republic Day or Jan 22, 2010!!!!

Earlier, it was reported that Selvaraghavan’s magnum opus ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ is sure to hit screens for Christmas. But again, the inner sources from film’s crew have revealed that the release will further get postponed to January.

‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ is produced by R. Ravendran of Dream Valley Entertainment with Karthi, Andrea, Reema Sen and Parthiban in lead roles. The reports have furthermore stated that it will take nearly a couple of months to complete the post productions works: editing, sound recording and grading.

Until now, none of the TV channels have come forward to acquire the satellite rights due to big price tags. As well, buzzes are that distributors are unwillingly backing off as Ravendran has quoted big amount that may not benefit them with desired results.

As Pongal is expected to have big releases like Vijay’s ‘Vettaikaran’, Ajith Kumar starrer ‘ASAL’, producer Ravendran may have to get this released on Jan 22, 2010 as it would be a long weekend as Republic Day falls on Jan 26.

Is It ‘Karthi Vs Karthi’ For Pongal?!!!!

Post-Paruthiveeran, Karthi had kept his buffs awaited for a long time nearly for couple of years… Now with his ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ and ‘Paiya’ nearing completion, the latest buzzes across the airs are that both the films maybe released at the same time.

Recently, producer R. Ravendran interacted with media channels saying, “We’ve been reading through various articles that states we’re running on financial constraints, which is completely untrue. Aayirathil Oruvan has got more substantiality over computer generated works and it would surely elevate the standard of Indian Cinema. Indeed distributors will find a new market for this film….”

On pars, Lingusamy’s ‘Paiya’ seems to be going along with the final schedule and post production works would soon commence.

Let’s wait and watch whether these two mega flicks will offer grand fiesta at the same period.
