Another Kapoor… On The Card1

At 21, Shraddha Kapoor has four years of theatre expertise behind her. Besides, Shakti Kapoor's daughter has honed her histrionics under the tutelage of the famed Barry John. Kapoor's debut: 'Teen Patti' could well be her trump card…

Her lineage can, er, at best be described as… (in)famous! Cine baddie Shakti Kapoor happens to be her dad, though thankfully, the perky daughter of Shivangi (Kolhapure) has no plans of turning nefarious.

Rather, she's gearing up to grace celluloid with an ace: 'Teen Patti', wherein she shares screen frames with an 'Idiot,' R. Madhavan and the reigning icon of Indian cinema: Amitabh Bachchan.

The promos of producer Ambika Hinduja's flick have been creating quite a buzz; and Shraddha Kapoor, 21, with four years of theatre expertise behind her, admits to be thrilled to smithereens as her debut readies to unfurl on screen…

Split reality?

The dichotomy in witnessing her father being mean and Machiavellian on screen and being a bright dad off screen, caught the fancy of the young Shraddha, who confesses that she "found the whole process of being someone else very fascinating."

With the seed of acting firmly embedded in her psyche, Shraddha honed her acting skills under the tutelage of Barry John, the famed acting teacher who has finetuned the histrionics of Manoj Bajpai and Shah Rukh Khan, no less.

Shraddha was also part of a dance troupe at Boston University and is adept at playing the guitar too, after she undertook six months of training, since she was to enact the lead guitarist of a band in the film.

Great first

Disclosing details regarding her character in 'Teen Patti', Shraddha says, "I'm playing Aparna Khanna in the film. She's a very studious girl and she has to prove herself to her best friend who doesn't see her for what she truly is. Aparna's heart belongs to him and the same is true of him. She becomes a part of his game for love, but soon realises that the betrayals in love are nothing compared to the betrayals in the game that she is in."

Fun journey…

Looking suitably fetching in her off white ensemble, Shraddha asserts, "I think I've been lucky to be given this outstanding opportunity right at the start of my career. The director Leena Yadav had created such well defined characters that the journey of each of them became very interesting. It's been a dream debut, for me. When I look back, I realised that I had the time of my life shooting for the movie. And I miss it all the more now. Believe me, 'Teen Patti' is one big brilliant ride!"

Guess, Kapoor's holding all the aces…
