Somdev Dev Varman jumped 21 places up to 141 in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) singles chart released Monday. Rohan Bopanna also gained 19 spots to be ranked 69 in the doubles chart.Both, Somdev and Bopanna’s recent exploits at the SA Open in Johannesburg helped them rise up the respective charts. Somdev had stunned Xavier Malisse before losing to formidable David Ferrer in the quarter finals in Johannesburg while Bopanna and his Pakistani partner, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, won the doubles title at the same tournament by beating Karol Beck and Harold Levy. Prakash Amritraj lost 22 positions to be ranked 222 in singles while Leander Paes (7) and Mahesh Bhupathi (8) remained static in the doubles list. In the Women’s Tennis Association rankings, Sania Mirza’s singles and doubles rankings at 59 and 33 respectively, remained intact.
